๐Ÿ–ŒPainter’s Plots๐Ÿ”

Last week, our focus for reading was plot, theme, sequencing and main idea. This is where I wanted the kids creative minds to come out. Thus started a lesson with painter stir sticks! He he. Sounds funny but the kids loved it. The kids created their own stories using painters sticks, the beauty of markers and first grader imaginations (the best part). They had to be able to create stories that had not only a beginning , middle and end but also a problem and solution. It was brilliant to watch them create AND be able to retell the stories to the class by describing each story box that was on their painters stick. Some students wanted to create more and more after they were finished simply because they wanted to take the sticks home and show their family (which is wonderful!!) and of course they did. If you were looking for a simple way to spark story writing and creating here is a great tool for your toolbelt. Maybe it inspires you like it did Room 219. May your stories be as awesome as YOU. Love, Mrs. Castlebury’s class๐Ÿ’›
